Bangkok Guest Friendly Hotel Tips

Frequent travelers to Thailand who often stay in hotels find certain inconsistencies on services and room qualities. Because everyone has different experiences and not everyone stays in the same room, which is why hotels invariably have mixed reviews from guests.

Here are some simple tips to help you have a stress free holiday.

Tips for booking a guest friendly hotel

Even though a guest friendly hotel does not charge joiner fees you should still book your room for two guests. In most cases it does not cost you extra. Also if the room rates includes free breakfast you'll get an extra breakfast coupon for your lady of the night.

I often read from blogs and other websites about Bangkok's nightlife suggesting you can book any hotels for two guests and you will never have to pay joiner fees, regardless of whether it's guest friendly or not. This is absolutely not true. Non guest friendly hotel's management are not stupid. If they want to make extra money from you they will make you pay. So make your holiday a whole lot smoother and book your stay at a guest friendly accommodation.

You should also keep several names of alternative guest friendly hotels in mind. These hotels are very popular and in high demand so there is a good chance your first hotel choice may not have rooms available. So just it case that happens you'll be prepared.

Keep in mind hotels in Bangkok cost more during high season, from October/November to February March. During low season April to late October you can find deeply discounted room rates especially for hotels on the islands of Thailand.

What to do if you don't like your hotel room

Most budget and mid range guest friendly hotels in Bangkok have very nice rooms. But not all of the rooms are in the same condition because some rooms have seen more use than others.

First, don't get upset and immediately run to the front desk angry. Change into the best clothes you have. I'm not saying you should dress like James Bond in a tuxedo.

Any casual wear is fine, which you should have when traveling to Bangkok. A clean button shirt, pants and shoes is all you need. You should understand that Thai society is based on social hierarchy and the better you're dressed the higher you appear in their eyes. They will treat you better and make your request a top priority. And if there are indeed rooms available, you'll get it.

On the other hand if you're dressed like you're headed for the swimming pool with a towel around you're neck then you'll have a harder time getting your request honored in a timely fashion.

You can avoid this problem altogether in the beginning by looking your best at check in. You just might even get an upgrade.

Bringing more than one lady back to your room

Most guest friendly hotels will charge a joiner fee if you take more than one lady back to your room. The fee ranges from 600THB to 1000THB depending on the hotel's policy.

My suggestion is if you plan on taking a few ladies to your room you should book a guest friendly serviced apartment. Go up to your room with your first lady. Then have the second lady come up to your room 5 minutes later.

Hotels might have a problem with a lady coming into a hotel alone, while serviced apartments don't really seem to have a problem at all. Just make sure your lady is dressed appropriately.

Some final tips

Avoid touts and taxis parked outside hotels. As friendly as the people are in Bangkok there are many who want to make quick money off of you. These scam artists and opportunist are harmless. But if you don't know what you're doing than you're going to get screwed.

Most of these scam artists lurk outside hotels usually waiting near a parked taxi or a tuk tuk.
